Electrolytes are essential to both horses and humans. At their most basic level electrolytes is a combination of salts and minerals that are used for chemical processes within the body’s cells. When a horse becomes dehydrated after strenuous exercise or exposure to heat, it has lost critical fluids and electrolytes. Simply providing water is inadequate as this alone will not replace electrolytes. It may actually dilute them, leading to overhydration. The horse needs to be supplied electrolytes and then provided with an adequate water supply.

NutriLyte Gold Gel contains sodium chloride and potassium in the same ratio as is lost in sweat. Because NutriLyte contains easily absorbed carbohydrates it replaces energy much faster and can, therefore, be used during, and immediately after, exercise.

Always provide free access to water when administering NutriLyte.

• Sodium 2.43g
• Chloride 2.43g
• Potassium 1.22g
• Calcium 0.37g
• Magnesium 0.19g
• Dextrose 15.6g

Administration

Give 60ml directly after exercise, making sure water is freely available.  A further 60ml can be given after 6 hours. 1 gel replaces losses of electrolytes equivalent to 1% fluid loss. 2 syringes can be given after strenuous workout. Always have free access to water. Must be given a minimum of 3 hours before exercise.
